What a request costs

Each request is charged at the rate shown in the app, which is the provider's price for the tokens used plus our margin. The ledger shows every line. Roughly:

RequestDefault modelTypical cost
Cleaning up a dictationClaude Haikua fraction of a cent
Editing a selectionClaude Sonnetunder a cent
Distilling a few minutes of talkClaude Sonnetone to a few cents
Summarizing an hour-long meetingClaude Sonneta few cents

You can pick a stronger model per purpose in Settings; it costs more per request and the ledger says how much. A $10 pack lasts months for someone who dictates all day and summarizes a few meetings a week.

Why not a subscription

Most people never need the cloud tier: on-device cleanup is good for everyday dictation. The people who do want Claude use it unevenly, a lot one week and not at all the next. Charging per request means you pay for what you used and nothing else, and you can see where it went.
